Those who heard that the President Wang Ch’ung-hui House on Anfu Road is squatted by Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre are naturally indignant. The descendants of Wang Ch’ung-hui have kept the complete set of House Purchase Receipts, Land Ownership Certificate, and the key to the house. Furthermore, they have a copy of the House Lease Contract with the Shanghai People’s Art Theatre, dated 10 December 1950. When the contract was signed with this government organization, the Chinese Communist Party had been in power for a year already. However, the mainland Chinese government has refused to return the private property. We have been asked by the descendants to give a full account, for the benefit of citizens and lawyers on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
